The Club

The range is the club’s main attraction, but by no means its only claim to fame. The club is a great place to hang out with your fellow shooting enthusiasts, as well as make new friends. An indoor shooting range alone would have been a welcome addition to Colorado Springs. An indoor range with amenities other ranges have never even heard of is already making the Whistling Pines Gun Club a Front Range landmark.

The lounge areas downstairs are complemented by the classroom upstairs, where people of all ages and degrees of experience become safer, more knowledgeable shooters. In addition to presenting its own course, the club is proud to host the Colorado Springs Police Department’s Refuse to Be a Victim and other classes.

Members and guests are always welcome to make themselves at home in the spacious, handsomely appointed lounge. Some people sit down for a few minutes to score their targets and flip through gun magazines. Some hang out for hours and watch football games and read the magazines cover to cover. This isn’t just a “club” in name only. It’s the home base for the entire community of responsible shooters in the greater Colorado Springs area.

A gun club with art on the walls? Well, why not? There’s not much chance anybody’s going to miss the old days in those drab, dark, smoke-filled concrete block ranges.

Another view of the lounge area. Feel free to buy the art, or simply enjoy it. Yes, there’s still wall space available for local artists to display their works.

Warning! You may want to enjoy a cup of espresso after you’re done shooting rather than before. This machine produces the coffee equivalent of the .500 Smith & Wesson magnum.

The more you know, the more safely you’ll shoot and more enjoyment you’ll find in shooting. If you haven’t yet taken a course at the club, you’ve missed a treat. Settle back with an espresso or a cold beverage in a comfortable leather chair, and ask the questions you’ve always wondered about. Nearly everyone who works at the club is an NRA-certified instructor.

The most popular course is the three-hour NRA First Steps class, which meets Colorado’s training requirement for the Concealed Handgun Permit. It’s offered every Sunday at noon, alternate Tuesdays at 6:00 p.m., and alternate Thursday mornings at 9:00. If you already have your permit, take the intermediate and advanced courses to sharpen and hone your shooting skills.

Ultimately, the Whistling Pines Gun Club isn’t for everyone. It’s strictly for responsible, serious shooters who want to shoot in a safe, clean, family-oriented club. Well over 1,000 of your fellow shooters have already joined the club. We hope you will, too!
