Never Shot a Machine Gun? Try a Bump Gun!
We have just received our first two Thureon Defense Carbines here at Whistling Pines Gun Club. These firearms, also known as Bump Guns, are semi automatics that shoot similar to a machine gun. However, they are not fully automatic weapons and you do not require a NFA Tax Stamp to own them.
Members can purchase either the 9mm or .45 for under $1000.
If you already own a semi-automatic carbine, it may be possible to purchase the stock to enable your gun to bump fire. We are currently taking pre-orders so please call the Club (719) 597-3456 for more information.
You can rent either the 9mm or .45 caliber versions for shooting on the Whistling Pines Shooting Range for $15 per session plus ammunition – which you must buy from us. If you would like to rent the carbine with the silencer, its an extra $10.

Bump Gun Q&A
What is a Bump Gun? A bump gun is a semi-automatic carbine that by virtue of a special stock configuration enables rapid cycle firing.
Is a Bump Gun a machine gun? No. A machine gun is a fully automatic firearm, designed to fire rounds in quick succession by pressing and holding the trigger. The bump Gun uses a unique cycling system to create a machine gun like firing condition.
What’s it like to fire a Bump Gun? Incredibly Fun! You don’t pull the trigger but rather lock the finger of your right hand onto the specially designed stock and then pull the gun forward with your left. The first shot triggers the second and as long and you keep the forward pressure on the barrel, the gun continues to cycle. We were able to fire in short bursts or a continuous stream with just a little practice. You would swear you were shooting a machine gun.
How accurate is a Bump Gun? The firearm has a tendency to rise and push to the right. But with just a little practice, we were able to reliably stay on target shooting short 3-4 round bursts. We will be restricting rental usage to the center lanes at the Club.
Are Bump Guns Legal? Yes. Bump Guns are not fully automatic firearms. They do not require a special tax stamp. That said, we can’t predict what the future may bring, so if you are considering owning one of these types of weapons, act now! Call Whistling Pines Gun Club today!
